20-125      h.p.   (SM28-3 X SM30) selfed
20-126      h.p.   SM502 selfed
SM30 is a Smith-Mossman find with a lot of yellow on each of the five petals.
2406 has a lot of pink and some yellow on all five petals. This cross has produced plants with a lot of yellow and pink on each of the five petals. This is a second generation cross to produce a flower with more yellow and pink.
(SM189 X SM232) is a cross made by Dick Cavender. SM189 has large flowers for an occidentale and SM232 has very colorful frilly flowers. (SM 189 X SM232)15 is a good selection from this cross. The aim of this cross is to produce flowers that have the best features of this cross and SM30.
SM28-3 is petaloid double on some of its flowers. The goal of this cross is to produce a larger fraction of flowers that are petaloid double with more yellow and pink.
SM502 is a picotee with a thin purple picotee. As it grows sport branches emerge. On these sport branches, the picotees are wider and the leaves on the sports have blotches of purple. As the plant grows, the sports have sports, which have a very wide picotee and the leaves have a greater area of purple blotches. The goal of this cross is simply to see what occurs.

Dorothy Swift and Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow are hybrids of R. smirnowii X R. yakushimanum done by Gustav Mehlquist. These 2 were picked out of 2000 seedlings and are hardy to -25 degrees Fahrenheit. Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow is about 4 feet in 20 years, and Dorothy Swift is about 4 feet 6 inches in 20 years.
Everred is an elepidote hybrid by Kenneth Cox that has new foliage that is red. It is a low growing plant that is hardy to 0 degrees Fahrenheit.
Cinnamon Bear is R. bureavii X R. degronianum ssp. yakushimanum, and has cinnamon indumentum. It grows to about 3 feet in 10 years, and has more symmetrical branching than does Teddy Bear, which is the same cross.

1Isolated from other evergreen rhododendron on right trail, seedling from Woodlanders Nursery, sprawling plant, has sported stems with red leaves.
2Pink, from group of seedlings grown from nature trail on Chestnut Ridge preserve near Landrum, SC, in Greenville County, isolated from other evergreen rhododendrons, produces pure seed.
3Pure white with filaments turning pink, heat hardy, Blooms in mid-April with R. flammeum, probably selfed. Grown from cuttings from a from shaded-non-flowering plant in Charles Eastman yard, he said was collected in NC mountains. Produces seedlings exactly like the seed parent. Some leaves turn bright yellow in fall-winter.
4Light pink, compact erect plant, outstanding bloomer earlier than species, from plants grown from cuttings stuck 3-12-07 collected from a colony in Covington County, Alabama, on the bluffs and banks of the . reservoirs of the Conecuh River. They bloom earlier than the other Coastal Zone minuses to the east (lower Chattahoochee River) and the west (Alabama River in Monroe County, Alabama).
5White with yellow blotch, suffused with pink, in tight group with 3 other eastmanii, Meadow, Charles Eastman, and one unnamed, produces pure species seed.
6Forms multiple buds on stem end, makes ball trusses, probably selfs, growing near several tetraploid austrinums and Exbury X austrinum hybrids.
