a strong pink (52D) throat and a narrow, star-shaped
band of darker colour between the two; stamens 10, curved,
unequal. Pedicels 16mm long, pinkish green.
Leaves elliptic, 114x51mm, concave, broadly acute at
apex, cuneate at base, dull deep green and hairless
above, with tan scales below; petioles 10mm long, light
green, scaly.
Shrub 1.3x1.5m in 15 years. August-December.
(Received at Strybing from US National Arboretum as
a Veitch cultivar, but clearly incorrectly labelled
as received).
