Elepidote Rhododendron: 'Russell Harmon'

Flower pink with brownish-green spotting on dorsal lobe, openly funnel-shaped, wavy edges.  Conical shaped truss has 10-12 flowers.  Blooms late.  Leaves elliptic, acute apex, cuneate base, flat, matte, medium green.  Upward, spreading plant habit.  Plant grows wider than tall.  Grows to a typical height of 7-8 ft. in 10 years.  Hardy to -30°F (-35°C).  Hybridizer is unknown.

 
R. 'Mrs J.A. Withington III'

Lepidote Rhododendron: R. 'Mrs J.A. Withington III'

Flower double, very light purple at margins, shading paler to very pale purple at center, saucer-shaped, wavy edges, 1¾" - 2" across.  Held in multi-bud, dome-shaped truss of 2-4 flowers.  Blooms early midseason.  Leaves elliptic, broadly acute apex, rounded base, 1½" - 2½" long, semi-glossy, yellow-green, retained 2 years.  Mahogany colored in winter.  Compact mounded plant habit.  Typical height: 4 ft. in 10 years.  Plant is hardy to -20°F (-29°C).  Hybridized by E. Mezitt.

 
R. 'Michael Hill'

Evergreen Azalea: 'Michael Hill'

Flower strong pink with deep purplish red blotch and spotting, funnel-shaped, frilled lobes, 2⅜" across.  Inflorescence 1-2 flowered.  Blooms late.  Leaves narrowly elliptic, apiculate apex, cuneate base, 1⅜" long, glossy, lightly hairy, moderate green, retained 1 year.  Broad habit, grows 2½ times wider than tall.  Grows to a height of 1 ft. in 10 years.  Cold hardy to -5°F (-21°C).  Hybridized by Rokujo.

 
R. 'Homebush'

Deciduous Azalea: 'Homebush'

Flower vivid purplish pink on a base of vivid purplish red, openly funnel-shaped, slightly re-curved lobes, about 1⅛" across, semi-double.  Tight, ball-shaped truss with 12-16 flowers.  Holds color well in sun.  Blooms late midseason.  Leaves elliptic, broadly acute apex, cuneate base, light green.  Upright, open growth habit.  Grows to a typical height of 6 ft. in 10 years.  Cold hardy to 0°F (-18°C).  Hybridized by Waterer (Knaphill).  Award of Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society.
