R. 'English Roseum'

Elepidote Rhododendron: 'English Roseum'

Flower soft rose-lilac, openly funnel-shaped, 1½" across.  Held in large dome-shaped trusses.  Blooms late midseason.  Leaves elliptic, acute apex, cuneate base, smooth, re-curved, glossy, medium green.  Plant has a dense growth habit, but can get very large in size.  Grows to a height of 6 ft. in 10 years.  Flower bud is hardy to -25°F (-32°C).  Vigorous grower that is tolerant of extremes in cold, heat and humidity.  Hybridized by A. Waterer.

 
R. 'Weston's Aglo'

Lepidote Rhododendron: 'Weston's Aglo'

Flower moderate purplish pink with coppery red spotting, broadly funnel-shaped, wavy edges, 1½" across.  Dome-shaped truss holds about 8 flowers.  Blooms early midseason.  Leaves elliptic, acute apex, cuneate base, 2¼" long, glossy, medium green, retained 1 year.  Plant has an open habit.  Sun tolerant.  Grows to about 3 ft. tall in 10 years.  Very cold hardy to -25°F (-32°C).  Hybridized by Mezitt.

 
R. 'Girard's Unsurpassable'

Evergreen Azalea: 'Girard's Unsurpassable'

Flower deep pink with darker-speckled upper petals, single, wavy edged, 2½” to 3” across.  Profuse flower production.  Blooms late midseason.  Leaves medium green, 1"-2" long with acute to obtuse apex and cuneate base.  Broad, well-branched plant habit.  Typical height is 2 ft. in 10 years.  Cold hardy to -15°F (-26°C).  Hybridized by Girard.

 
R. prunifolium

Deciduous Azalea: R. prunifolium

Flower usually orange-red to vivid red, occasionally light orange, funnel-shaped, 1½" to 2" across.  Inflorescence has 4-7 flowers.  Blooms very late.  Leaves elliptic to obovate, up to 6" long, medium green, deciduous.  Upright, spreading, open growth habit.  Height: 6 ft. or more in 10 years.  Cold hardy to -10°F (-23°C).  Native species found in the wild in the Georgia-Alabama border area.
