Vireya Rhododendron: R. zoelleri

Flower funnel-shaped, 3½" across, bi-color, corolla orange to pink with a yellow throat, sometimes fragrant.  Flat-shaped truss holds 4-8 flowers.  Several named cultivars commercially sold.  Leaves elliptic, broadly elliptic to sub-obovate, shortly acuminate, broadly acute or obtuse apex, broadly tapering base, sometimes unequal.  Shrub or tree up to 10 m tall.  Hardy to 40°F (5°C).  Native species found growing in the wild in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.
